Museums & Activities to Experience Around Central Florida Over Summer Break

Summer doesn’t have to be another year of your kids wandering around the house saying “I’m booooorrred!” There are tons of great opportunities that are low-cost or no-cost throughout Central Florida. Here are some of the best museums and activities to check out this summer.

Art & History (A&H) Museums Family Workshops

There’s plenty to do if you’re in the Maitland area throughout the summer at A&H Museums! Take the whole family to events planned from June through mid-July. Classes include hands-on arts and crafts projects, tours around campus, and picnic opportunities.

Aloma Bowl – Kids Bowl Free

If you’re downtown or in the Winter Park area, Aloma Bowl is offering kids two free games of bowling until August 11. Bowling is a great way to keep competitive kids engaged, and the whole family is sure to have a good time. Be sure to check out their website for specific details

Orlando Science Center

It feels like a must-have to put the Orlando Science Center on this list, but the science center offers such a robust selection of activities, we had to! There are tons of one-off activities your kids will love that are included in your visit. For kids looking to get more hands on in STEM, consider enrolling them in one of the camps! The best part? Orlando Science Center runs camps throughout the year. If summer is too busy, consider another time of year!

Central Florida Zoo’s Cub Club & Summer Camps

In addition to being adorably named, the Cub Club is great for kids age 2-5 throughout the summer. There are also summer camps for kids ages 6-17! It’s a great way for kids who love animals to get up close and personal with some of Central Florida Zoo’s most popular animal friends.

Summer Reading Programs from Libraries

It’s never too late to jump in on a summer reading program! Whether you’re in Maitland’s summer series or reading off Orange County Public Library’s children’s reading challenge, there’s something for everyone. Plus, there’s nothing better than staying indoors (and out of the heat) with a good book.

We hope this list gives your family a good jumping off point for activities to fill up the rest of your summer. We’re excited to hear all about your summertime adventures — wherever they might take you!
