Fun Christmas Ideas for the Whole Family

Fun Christmas Ideas for the Whole Family

Tinsel, lights, trees, presents — Christmas is just around the corner! If your family feels like the same old traditions are getting tiresome, try out a few of these fun ideas the whole family will enjoy.

Pasta noodle Christmas tree

This project is a fun, hands-on activity great for younger children. You’ll need both fusilli (or penne) noodles and macaroni noodles, acrylic paint, extra strong glue, gold stickers and cardstock. Get the full instructions here, and get started building your own unique Christmas trees.

Read a Christmas story together

Whether it’s “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” Dickens’s A Christmas Carol, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, or something newer like The Polar Express, reading a Christmas story aloud can bring the whole family together. To make it even more magical, find a movie adaptation of the book after reading!

Christmas-cookie bake-off

If you’ve got creative older kids in the house, have a little competitive fun with a bake off! Start by making enough sugar cookie dough batter for your family. Then round up assorted toppings like chocolate chips, crushed candy canes, M&Ms, Red Hots, Goldfish crackers, Ritz crackers — no topping is off the table! Each person picks as many or as few as they want, mixes it into their own bit of sugar cookie dough, and then puts them all in the oven to bake. The best flavor combination wins! As a bonus, this means your family gets to sample a whole lot of different cookies throughout the night.

Personalized call from Santa

Parents, did you know that you can connect your kid to Kris Kringle himself? The “Personalized Call from Santa” app can help you specify what messages you’d like to send — and receive — from the big man. While the app itself is free to download, to send the messages, you’ll have to shell out a few dollars to upgrade the account.

Whether you’re looking for a new twist on classic holiday traditions or wanting something entirely fresh to do, we’re sure whatever activities you do this Christmas will be fun and memorable. The Lake Forrest Prep team wishes you and yours a very happy holiday season. Interested to see what else sets us apart from other Orlando private schools?
