PK4 – Elementary School Uniforms
Lake Forrest Preparatory School students are required to wear uniforms purchased from Lands’ End. By enrolling, parents agree to follow the school’s dress code and uniform guidelines.
- Uniforms must be worn on field trips.
- Non-academic days do not require uniforms.
- LFPS Spirit Shirts may be worn on Thursdays with uniform bottoms.
- All tops, sweaters, and sweatshirts worn inside the classroom must display the LFPS logo.
- During colder weather, students may wear any jacket, sweater, or sweatshirt outside, but these must be removed when entering the building.
Daily Uniform for PK4-4th Grade Students:
- Polo or collared shirts (white, maize, or gray) with LFPS logo.
- Any bottoms (khaki, white plaid, or gray).
- Jumpers and dresses (white, khaki, white plaid, or gray) with LFPS logo.
- A polo or collared shirt must be worn under jumpers.
- Jumpers, dresses, and skirts must be worn with bike shorts.
Shoes and Socks:
- Required: Athletic tennis shoes with laces or Velcro.
- Not Allowed: Flip-flops, slip-on shoes, or boots.
- Socks & Cold Weather Wear:
- Any color socks may be worn if they are not a distraction.
- Any color tights or leggings may be worn during colder months.
Hair & Jewelry
- Hair must be neat and in a natural color.
- Hairstyles and hair accessories should not be a distraction.
- Approved jewelry:
- Simple stud earrings
- An appropriate watch. Smart watches must be in airplane mode.
- Religious jewelry (must be worn inside the uniform)
- Not allowed:
- Dangle earrings, trendy bracelets, ankle jewelry
- Visible piercings (except for earlobes)
- Tattoos, body paint, or body art
- Makeup

CURRICULUM
Reading
McGraw-HIll Open Court Reading is the foundation of the language arts program with practice in traditional phonics, reading fluency, comprehension, spelling, vocabulary and writing. All grades use reading curriculum that is one grade level above current grade level. However, students may work at grade level or even 2 grade levels ahead.
Grammar and Writing
Shurley English is a dynamic, research-based writing and grammar program designed to build a strong foundation in grammar and writing. Using a structured and engaging approach, Shurley English helps students develop a deep understanding of sentence structure, parts of speech, and writing skills through repetition, jingles, and interactive activities. The program emphasizes critical thinking, mastery of language concepts, and effective communication, empowering students to become confident and proficient writers.
Social Science
Social studies and science are based on the Core Knowledge Sequence Content Guidelines, which is a detailed outline of specific content taught in history, geography, and science. Students explore this content through reading, hands-on projects and activities, and research including traditional resources in the library and internet.

Math
The Stepping Stones Math is a comprehensive and engaging curriculum designed to build a strong foundation in mathematics for all students. It integrates conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and real-world applications to help students develop both confidence and proficiency in math. Key features of Stepping Stones include a spiral learning approach, hands-on and interactive lessons, real-world connections, differentiated instruction, and an emphasis on critical thinking. Grammar
Grammar is taught using Shurley Grammar. Shurley Grammar helps students understand each sentence part and how the parts look together to create a variety of sentences. This is accomplished by using a unique Question and Answer Flow process in a group environment to analyze the parts of a sentence. Jingles help students learn grammar concepts.

It provides review and reinforcement of previously taught math skills. Math facts are taught in a teaching sequence that helps students grasp number-fact relationships and promotes retention of basic facts. Lake Forrest Preparatory students are required to wear the uniform items from Lands’ End. Our parents agree to support the dress code and the uniform guidelines when they enroll.

- May wear any LFPS logoed jumpers or dresses in white, khaki, white plaid, or gray plaid. (Jumpers, dresses, & skirts must be worn with bike shorts.)
Shoes and Socks:
Athletic tennis shoes with laces or Velcro must be worn each day. No flip flops or slip-on shoes please. Boots may not be worn with the uniform. Any color socks may be worn if they are not a distraction. During the colder weather, any color tights or leggings may be worn.
Hair and Jewelry:
A Lake Forrest Prep student’s hair is neat and natural in color. Girls can wear any color hair accessories. For girls, simple stud earrings are approved jewelry. Dangle earrings, trendy bracelets, or ankle jewelry is not worn with the uniform. An appropriate watch may be worn, and religious jewelry is worn inside the uniform. Our students do not expose piercing of body parts other than ears for girls and do not expose tattoos, body paint, or body art anywhere. Girls do not wear makeup.
Physical Education Uniform
– optional for 3rd grade, mandatory for 4th
All PE components must be purchased from Lands’ End (except any Lake Forrest Prep spirit shirt may be worn for PE) and shirts must have a logo.
- Essential t-shirt or Active tee – short/long-sleeved gray heather
- Mesh or Athletic shorts – evergreen or stone gray
- Sweatshirt – pewter gray
- Sweatpants – evergreen or gray
