Private School Scholarship Programs

Giving your children a private education may not be as expensive as you believe. Many options exist to assist with the financial responsibilities associated with an Orlando private school. Below are a few examples of scholarships your family may be eligible to receive.

  • The Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program: The (FTC) was established in 2001. Its goal is to provide income tax credit for businesses and corporations contributing money to nonprofit Scholarship-Funding Organizations (SFOs). The SFOs, in turn, award scholarship prizes to students from families with limited financial resources. Students need not meet a specific grade point average to qualify, and scholarship money may be used to cover expenses other than tuition, such as books, uniforms, transportation, et cetera. • The Step Up for Students Scholarship: This scholarship assists economically disadvantaged families in Florida to realize the dream of enrolling their child or children in a private school. Scholarships give families the ability to choose the best learning opportunities for their children, regardless of cost. Scholarship money may cover registering for a private school, testing, tuition, books, transportation, and uniforms; the scholarship awards up to $5272 annually as of 2014. Visit www.stepupforstudents.org for more information.
  • The McKay Scholarship for Students with Disabilities: This one gives parents of children with disabilities the advantage of choosing the most promising learning environment for their child. Any student who currently has an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Accommodation Plan on record qualifies if his or her parent is not satisfied with that child’s educational progress. This scholarship allows students to attend private schools or schools outside their district. For more information, visit www.floridaschoolchoice.org/Information/McKay/.
